Philosophy

Congregation Beth Am is a spiritual home and egalitarian Jewish community that welcomes individuals of all ages and backgrounds to grow, learn, and participate in the richness of Jewish life. We celebrate holy days and life-cycle events with a responsive blend of tradition, innovation, and mutual support. We value intellectual life and provide education for children and adults as a means to growth and to ensure Jewish continuity. We reach out to work for peace, understanding, and social justice.

Services

Shabbat morning services are held at the Fellowship Hall of the First Unitarian Universalist Church. Services are held every week at 10:00 am. Times and dates for holiday and festival services are announced in our bulletin, or under Current Events and Bulletin. Children are welcome at all services. Kiddush and conversation follow every service.

Finding Beth Am

(Go to Google Maps  or Mapquest for interactive maps.) From downtown, take IH-10 West, and get off at Crossroads Blvd (last exit before I-410). Stay on the access road past Crossroads Blvd, and past the gas station and motel.  Head up the hill. The synagogue is at the top of the hill on the right. From the northwest part of the city, take IH-10 East towards downtown and exit at Crossroads (immediately after the I-410 ramp). Stay on the access road to  Crossroads Blvd,   Take the turnaround and then  head up the hill on the outbound service road. The synagogue is at the top of the hill on the right. Westbound on Loop 410: Exit  at Fredericksburg Rd  (as you go under I-10, immediately after the I-10 exit). Take the 1st turnaround (at Fredericksburg) after exiting.  Move to the right hand lanes, and follow the service road around to the right to the light at Crossroads Blvd. Take the turnaround under I-10, and head up the westbound I-10 Service road. The synagogue is at the top of the hill on the right. Eastbound on Loop 410: follow Fredericksburg exit; after exit stay on the access road.  After Fredericksburg Rd, stay in the right lane, and follow the service road around to the right to the light at Crossroads Blvd.  Take the turnaround under I-10 at Crossroads Blvd. The synagogue is at the top of the hill on the right.
