Shabbat Service Recordings
A major project of the Education Committee is to make recorded copies of Shabbat service and some blessings available to Beth Am members. The aim of this project is to enhance learning and to encourage members to begin leading parts of the service. In the fall, there will also be several sessions led by a teacher to allow in-depth learning of the service and to answer questions.
Recordings of the service have been reproduced by Mark Hyman on CD from the tape in the Beth Am library. Karen Berkowitz will also record a tape of the Torah blessings and the haftorah blessings for distribution.
Members interested in checking out one of the recordings can do so by calling Ana Blancarte. Although there is no charge for checking out the recordings, a contribution to Beth Am's general fund at the member's discretion would be greatly appreciated.

Beginner's Hebrew
Beth Am is participating in Read Hebrew America, a nationwide program sponsored by the National Jewish Outreach Project (NJOP). The Level II Hebrw Reading course is currently under way.

The popular Hebrew Reading Crash Course consists of five 1.5-hour sessions designed for those with little or no Hebrew background. It focuses on the aleph bet and basic reading skills. Take advantage of this opportunity. The course is free, and all course materials are provided by the NJOP. Marion will teach the course on Saturdays after the oneg.
