PEARLs of Wisdom - Congregational Fundraising Events

Have you been looking for some excellent models for fundraising events Reconstructionist-style. Here are some ideas:

  1. Progressive "Do Nothing" yard sale. "Nothing Doing" Progressive Yard Sale, whereby members of the congregation are encouraged to clean out their garage, take inventory, take a picture of their pile of stuff, and write a charitable donation to the synagogue for its value (then give it away or put it all back where they found it). The congregation has consistently been receiving gifts of $18 or more from "Nothing Doing" for years. (see attached as done by RSNS).
  2. The "No Dinner Dinner." One congregation in the Western Region sends out invitations to a "No Dinner Dinner," where they promote non-participants making tribute gifts for the annual "No Dinner Dinner," being held on February 30th, featuring, who else, but Rabbi Mordecai Kaplan, z"l.

What Reconstructionist-style fundraisers does your congregation employ to help raise the dollars your synagogue needs each year? Add your comment to this posting, it's easy!
