PEARL 2010: Providing Education And Resources for Leadership

PEARL, the distance-learning classes offered by JRF provide relevant information and strategies beneficial to congregational leaders, members, clergy, educators and administrative staff. Expert speakers partnered with JRF staff and lay leaders with the objectives to keep congregations and havurot strong; grow leadership, deepen Jewish spiritual life and continue critical Tikkun Olam work. The topics were generated every year by JRF's North American and regional staff and lay leaders, as well as by survey of JRF congregational leadership as to the desired focus of the sessions to meet the needs most relevant each year.

The section of PEARL also contains the Omer period, the seven weeks between Passover and Shavuot, where the focus is on "tikkun hanefesh v'olam", the well-being and active repair of self, community and the world. This initiative begun in 2005, is now featured as part of PEARL. See http://jrf.org/omer/home for the list of 2005-9 resources.

Each class met for 1ΒΌ hour either by conference call or webinar and was supported by downloadable resources and select audio files. Some classes delved deeper into previously presented topics. These 2.0 and up listings asked foks to read or listen to downloadable resources and send questions/comments in advance of the class.
